Digital property tax system wins WSIS award

The Land Ministry of Bangladesh received this year’s World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) award.

Lands Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury received the award during a program organized by different United Nations agencies including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in the Popov Conference Room at ITU Headquarters in Geneva, in Switzerland last Tuesday, a press release from the ministry said on Wednesday. .

ITU Secretary General Houlin Zhao presented the WSIS Prize trophy to the Minister of Lands. Lands Secretary Md Mostafizur Rahman was also present at the event, BSS reported.

After receiving the award, Minister of Lands Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said it was a great honor and privilege for the Ministry of Lands of Bangladesh to receive the WSIS award.

“This recognition will inspire us to work better,” he added.

The Department of Lands’ Digital Property Tax System wins the Best Project/Initiative Award in the category titled ‘ICT Applications: Benefits in All Aspects of Life-e-Government’.

World leaders, ministers, senior officials, civil society representatives, academics, private sector representatives and representatives of international and regional organizations, including the United Nations, and laureates participated in the program.
