We must protect the tax system

“We must protect the tax system, because it is thanks to the tax system that we have the resources for development at our disposal,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said Thursday in Siófok.

In his speech at the Active Hungary Beginning of an Era Conference 2021 event, the Prime Minister stressed: “For there to be development projects, we need a strong economy that generates money in the country. instead of swallowing it ”.

“There are many reasons for an economy to be dynamic, but it is important that we do not allow the dismantling of Hungary’s laboriously built and functioning economic system,” he said.

“The heart of this economic system is the tax system; if this system no longer existed in Hungary, the performance of the economy would drop significantly, and the resources available for development projects would also be reduced, ”he said.

“We have done a lot in the last 12 years, and especially in the last two years, since the office of the Government Commissioner for an Active Hungary is operational,” he explained.

“It was an area that had no control over the history of Hungarian economics after 1945, as politics is always looking for big things and tends to neglect the little things that make life really livable, ”he said.

“If there are non-governmental organizations, then the requirements and aspects are presented before political decision-making, and if there is a channel where these recommendations are summarized, then it could easily happen that a government decision will ensure that from those recommendations, ”he said.

“It would appear that we have managed to achieve extremely good results in this area compared to the major obstacles that we have had to overcome,” said Mr Orbán.

“This area is no longer without a master, there is an institutional system, and it would be good if there were proposals on how to develop it further,” he said.

“It is also important that there are concrete plans, so that the field also has a strong negotiating position,” he added.

According to the Prime Minister, the money the economy generates and the tax system that is at the heart of the economy are also important.

Mr. Orbán also spoke of the fact that the future of nations depends on the country and community that love their homeland the most. “The foundations of patriotism are two types of knowledge: knowledge of the country and knowledge of the nation,” he said.

“The strengthening of both serves to increase patriotism and to determine the extent to which the Hungarians will be the winners of the competition between nations over the next 10 to 20 years,” he added.

“It’s at least as important, if not more, than money and economic power, that’s what the future depends on,” he said.

“Emotional factors will be decisive in the coming decades in the race between nations, and where commitment to homeland and community is stronger, more and much better things will be achieved,” the Prime Minister said. .

“The importance of this way of thinking cannot be underestimated, because the emotions necessary to overthrow communism were to a large extent generated by just that: patriotism,” he noted.
