What is the Department of Income Tax Helpline available 24 hours a day until July 31?
Here is an overview of how you can raise any type of grievance you have related to e-filing on the Department of Income Tax website.

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax Portal and log in by entering your login credentials.
Step 2: Click Submit Grievance under Grievances
Step 3: Select the relevant department to which the grievance should be submitted. There are 8 heads you can classify under.
Step 4: For example, if you select e-Filing, select the category and subcategory from the drop-down list.

Note: This service handles all complaints regarding registration, e-filing portal profile or password, ITR/form verification, e-procedures, instant PAN (e-PAN) via Aadhar or cybercrime ( related to income tax) must be filed with this service. . Step 5: Click Continue. Here’s how to file a complaint about e-filing on the Department of Income Tax’s website.
Step 5: Fill in the required details related to the selected category. Write the description of the grievance in the appropriate box. You will have attachments to download.
Step 6: Click on “Submit Grievance”.
According to the Income Tax website, areas of grievances that can be resolved:
electronic filing
This department deals with electronic filing of tax return or statutory forms and other value added services like e-verification and e-procedures etc. , Instant PAN (e-PAN) via Aadhar or Cybercrime (related to income tax) must be registered in this department.
AO
Assessment Agents are designated income tax officers who deal with the assessment of taxpayers in their jurisdiction and can be contacted for specific ITR related questions. Complaints related to reimbursement, rectification, correction request, appeal order, PAN-related request or any other miscellaneous request pending with the AO should be registered in this department.
CPC-TDS
This service is associated with the e-TDS scheme. Any grievances related to Portal Access/Registration, TDS Statement Processing, Defects, Challan/BIN Corrections, Form 26AS, Form 16/27D, TDS Refunds and TDS on Sale of goods must be registered in this department.
UTIITSL
This department handles the issuance of PAN/TANs and related queries. All grievances related to discrepancies/errors in PAN application, allocation of the same PAN to multiple entities, logistics (delivery of PAN card) or Aadhar seeding should be registered in this department.
NSDL
This department handles the issuance of PANs and related queries. All grievances related to rejected/pending PAN application, discrepancies/errors in the PAN application, allocation of the same PAN to multiple entities, logistics (PAN card delivery), or seeding Aadhar must be registered in this department.
CPC-ITR
This department manages the processing of tax returns. All grievances related to ITR-V status, notices or notices u/s 139(9) or 143(1), refund not received, processes related to income tax processing, media grievances social media or comments should be registered in this department.
This department handles the issuance of tax refunds to the taxpayer after the processing of the ITR. All grievances related to failed refund, refund credited to wrong account, and refund paid but not credited to account should be logged in this department.
DIT (Systems)
This department manages the systems related to information technology in the income tax department. All technical issues on the e-filing website, related to PAN, fee payment system (OLTAS), escalation of existing bank refund (SBI) issues, assessment and mismatch information should be recorded in this department.
